Oh, and here are Space Pirates:

Notice the appalling lack of armor and guns! SO UNREALITSIC OMG LETS GIVE THEM TEH GUNS AND ARMOR
EVEN THOUGH IT'S TEH PREQUEL. AND FOR NO APPARENT RAESON LETS MAEK THEM STADN MOER UPRITE AND LESS HUNHCBAKED!

Here are fan sprites of Space Pirates as depicted in Prime 1 and 2:

What in God's name am I looking at here? Shocked Oh that's right, Americanized versions of a Japanese enemy design!

Eiron, I find you statement about their appearance changing with each game to be cute, because as I remember it when the Mario and Zelda series went into 3D Goombas and Octoroks still looked and behaved like Goombas and Octoroks. In Super Metroid, Space Pirates are very dumb creatures that merely shot at you. Some of them fly for a bit and jump and climb walls. The challenge in facing them was that some of them could actually be pretty tough. But I know that there are Space Pirate scientists and Space Pirate marines etc., and those simply go unseen in Super Metroid. The funny thing is though, every single Space Pirate in Metroid Prime seems to be armed with some kind of weapon or ability-enhancing armor. There are no standard, mindless soldier Space Pirates even though Samus just came out of her first battle with them and she is still a very new threat to them. That kind of crap is why I hate prequels with a passion.

You might want to chill out there.

I apologize.

But about the pirates...I don't seriously see the problem.

They even have the claws. They are just guns. Pretty logical. If the pirates had only giant lobster claws, how on earth would they operate machinery?

Well, as far into the series as Metroid Fusion and Metroid Zero Mission, Nintendo still hasn't bothered to answer that question. So maybe it doesn't need an answer. I don't see anyone questioning the logistics of the hookshot in OoT or how Link manages--without even lifting a finger--to magically open stone doors.

I'm pretty much done with this thread. Before I go though-

It was Miyamoto's decision to make Prime a first person game. Retro wanted it to be a third person adventure title. Miyamoto also wanted Ocarina of Time to be first person, but the limitations of the N64 prevented its full implementation. Just throwing that out there. Also, a first person control setup was designed and implemented during the development cycle for Twilight Princess. The first person issue is NOT an American/Japanese stylistic difference in concern to the Prime games.

Maybe, but after playing it, he reportedly hated it!

Anyway, I want to differentiate myself from Poochy here. I don't know what he's talking about!

I had zero fun with Prime 2, between the single stick and the horrible backtracking, and vowed I would never touch the series again. If that bends you out of shape, damn guys, this forum is gonna need a professional masseuse or some shit.

Since by the end of Metroid Fusion Samus' Power Suit has both Metroid DNA and Federation technology, in addition to what it had before, I wonder if they'll use this to add new gameplay elements in Metroid 5. I mean, when I let my imagination carry me away, I think about how the Metroid DNA would act in the Fusion Suit over time... I imagine the Suit mutating and getting more powerful (but not becoming a monster XD) and even developing a "Life Draining System" similar to how Metroids drain your life (although I don't think I would like this as a gameplay element). The possibilities could be limitless. Any opinions?

Well...the Metroid series doesn't really need to revive the Metroid species again after Fusion, I think. In Fusion, Samus becomes the titular Metroid. Metroid basically means "ultimate warrior" in Chozo language, so Metroid 5 doesn't need any Metroids.

Lol, ok. Maybe I'll stick around, since there's some clearing up to be done. There are indeed more Metroid's at the end of Fusion. The Federation has been running a secret breeding/research project with them for some time, apparently.

And then there is the so-far unused idea of the pirate's (seen in MP3 during a few scans) to actually turn the Metroids in physical weapons. Maybe the federation could have perfected it?
I don't know. Just throwing out ideas.

Yikes. If the suit would keep mutating, would it eventually becoming as powerful as the Queen Metroid? Shocked

In other news, I'm plugging the manga one more time and then I'll shut up about it:

No. Also, the Queen is some kind of special breed, so, if this was to take this route, then it would become as powerful as an Omega Metroid, at most. tongue

Look, smartass. I rarely post here, much less browse old posts. I also was not even aware that there were more than two parts to the manga, believe it or not.

So, Ridley is a purple space pirate pterodactyl dragon cyborg (at least in the Primes) that never dies. Anyone else think Nintendo just went around combining the most awesome things they could think of for a villain?
