Death To All Game Mags (except Nintendo Power)

Post  Poochy on Sat Apr 04, 2009 1:17 pm

I have lost all faith in mankind.

Any Earthbound fans feel the same when one of the greatest video games of the SNES era is compared to Barney the Dinosaur?

I've never played EarthBound. Nintendo didn't release it in Europe...which doesn't surprise me. And it's not in the Virtual Console, either.
I heard it's a good game, so I can kinda see the problem here...I think.

Maybe I should get a SNES emulator and download a ROM. I'm normally against ROMs, but Nintendo's probably never going to release it here, so it's their loss.

From what I understand, Nintendo isn't bringing Mother/Earthbound out of Japan anymore mostly due to licensing issues. Supposedly a lot of the music borrows directly from other sources and licensing them all you negate any potential profit. I really wish I could remember where I read about this so I could offer you a better source than my sketchy recollection.
Anyway. Nintendo's decision to look the other way as far as the very public (and very very good) fan translation of Mother 3 is concerned leads me to believe that, references in the Smash Bros. series aside, the Mother series is pretty much over with in the west.

So yeah, knock yourself out.

Haha! I didn't notice how old this topic is!

So how did you like EB, Spontaneous Combustion?

Probably one of the best JRPG's ever made, no doubt. The beginning wasn't all that special, but then it suddenly caught my interest and became addicting.

That reminds me, I should probably start Mother 3 soon.
