Does large petition of fans really work?

Post  MENTOK the MINDTAKER on Tue Jul 07, 2009 1:06 am

Petition is probably not the right word, but I'll use that until I find the right one. I was just flicking over wikipedia (don't hate me) and went looking for an update on Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2. Then I saw the list of characters that are available which seem much smaller than the game before it.

I also thought it'd be GREAT if they put Carnage into this game, but odds are he won't be making an appearance, then I flicked back to this forum and thought I'd get some insight. Much like some TV Shows, when news gets out that they are getting cancelled or are abruptly axed on the spot (Ie: Las Vegas, Terminator: SCC) [american] people have made all kinds of histeria with sending production studio's truck after truck of peanuts (ie: Jericho) or some other kind of thing, like a boycott I think.

Anyway... I wondered on whether or not if site was made that gathered so many users supporting the idea of adding Carnage to the video game if the developers would add him to it.

doubt you could pull it off, but good luck if you can. they tend to finalize these things fairly early.

Considering they've already put a character list out, they're either fucking with you or it isn't going to happen.

btw, this isn't brawl.

Hmm, well I had no intention of starting such a movement myself. I don't have the ski----... time, but Valve provided more than enough evidence that developers keep an eye on what players do online. Left 4 Dead being the key example, they noticed that during cresendo events or when someone is boomed on that the survivors would immediately all huddle into a corner and generally murderlize anything that so much as twitches towards them since nothing could sneak up on them.

That in mind they've delayed the release of L4D2 slightly so that they can tinker accordingly and stop survivors humping the corners. They also tweaked the AI director so if survivors are zooming through the level "too quickly" a truck or other kind of obstruction can fall right in their way (not literally fall but be placed before they actually see the obstruction).

As to the previous post, it seems good business to give fans what they ask for and if 10's of 1000's of them cried for Carnage to be put into M:UA2 I am about 80% sure they'd give him a cameo or make him an enemy, at the least. IMO

Note: No it's not brawl Fobby, neither is Castlevania. Hence why it's in the videogame thread. What a Face

EDIT: It's never been stated that Carnage would be in the game, the first post I said it'd be great IF Carnage was added to it. But someone that DID make the cut http://marvelultimatealliance.marvel.com/en/news_comments/early_bird_special_the_making_of_aunt_may/

Dude, as long as Anti-Venom is a costume for Venom, I'm a satisfied man. We've actually got 4 people over here (myself included) waiting on this one & my squad is Venom, Sabretooth (dude, he was the onry good thing about the Wolverine movie, hands down. 'Oooh....shiny.'), and probably Juggernaut. But they probably had a smaller roster to put more work into gameplay, camera angles, and multiple paths. So rather than have a huge roster of characters & crap gameplay, they did a reverse. 'sides, we live in the age of DLC ^^; I know its kinda jacked up to make you pay for more content after you just dropped $65 but its always an option, yah?

Large petitions worked for ReBoot. Why not? It would have worked for Invader Zim, too, if Horvitz himself wasn't unable to return.

I'd guess it's more of a subjective thing.
Some things won't be phased no matter how much you try. Others might actually listen to you.

Venom is awesome, though I was surprised that they used Gargan as Venoms host instead of Eddie Brock, they are going old school it seems. Though it'd be MORE AWESOME if they scrapped Thor, I've never heard of anyone actually liking him.. or using him in the roster unless they HAD to. As for cost of games, us aussies get hosed royal. The Godfather II cost only $65 at Wallmart when i was in St Louis whereas it at the same time was selling at $109 here in Australia... then there are those bs pre-order goodies only you guys get. Us aussies are apparantly not worthy of such extra additions. Grr. Mad VOTE 'YES' FOR AUNT MAY!

Mind Taking & Bullets, my 2 weaknesses!!!

Remind me when the game comes out, I'll get you a Juggernaut code np~ Cool

& yah, since MUA2 is supposed to be during Civil War, Norman Osborn took the Thunderbolts, a group of Supervillians, and basically put them on loan to Tony Stark & his team. Venom (Mac Gargan version) was with the symbiote at the time, so yah, that's why its his version because of time-line/storyline. But even so, they've had plenty of time to discover Anti-Venom, so pretty plz? Put him in there???

Edit: Why thank you! Razz That lil' gem is Yoko from Gurren Lagann, she's got spunk & a pseudo .50-cal. Needless to say, I'm arroused. Cool

Brawls character list was finalized long before Sakurai's poll

If I remember my years right, the entire character list was finalized in 2005 except for Sonic, he was added in 2007

I dont think it works, If i had fans and they started a petition, i wouldnt do jack, cause wat r they gonna do bring it to court. All it is r fans bitching about things that dont even matter on a crappy youtube or xboxlive blog.

So you wouldn't listen to fans? You'd be a terrible developer. Not to mention you can't spell.

Most don't, at least not as a whole.
They may change a few major or minor complaints, but for the most part, the developers only care if the fans buy it, not whether or not they like it.
