Be warned, the "Sentry Buster" is a bomb with legs that exists to kill sentries. You'll have to move around or move the sentry back when it arms itself.

So who are you guys most excited to play for this mode? Heavy is obviously going to dominate (unless bots end up being really really fast) but I think demoman and pyro will be really rewarding. Everyone else who are kind of single target dps might be hard. It'll depend on when we know more about the bots.

I think the Soldier will be pretty useful, too - maybe this is where the new rocket launcher is handy?

Lame as it is, I'm kinda keen to play Medic and spam healing on everyone. Heavy and Medic are my two most played classes though, haha.

Hardly, the amount of weapons and classes in TF2 will offer a variety of different combinations to use in this new mode.

When you play Left 4 Dead 2 Horde mode you are stuck with the same people, same weapons.
---

Anyways, they are all robots. Perhaps I can get behind the horde as a Spy and sap them all or something.

I'll play I guess, unless something comes up. What is this anyway, a team of players against a team of bots? I play TF2 rarely, at best.

edit: Nevermind, just googled it, looks nifty enough. Only six players though? Orz. If we have more then six I'll sit out.

I think soldier will be extremely useful, medic will be invaluable, demo will probably be useful, heavy i'm actually kind of dubious about given the sniperbots using the cuntsman. Heavy might have a hard time getting out of a bad situation, since he's so slow.

Sniper and spy I don't see being very useful, tbh.

Engie could be devestating if they keep moving the sentry around, as to ward off the sentry busters. That, or battle engie. Battle engie is always viable. Razz

Scout and pyro i'm on the fence about, scout could be pretty useful, but they're good for harassing a single person, not so much a horde. Pyro... it really depends on if the robots take afterburn.

Spy

  • Upgraded Sapper can disable groups of regular robots and slow Giants.
  • Spies' disguises fool all robot enemies; robots may detect a nearby backstab, and will always detect a Spy who is on fire.
  • Upgraded knife can penetrate armor, allowing increasing effectiveness against Giants.

Spy looks pretty legit then.

Sniper... eh.

still too concentrated on one enemy at a time, imo.

Pyro... eh.

Minby seems to think that you'd be able to airblast the giants back, which I highly doubt.

Scout looks like a massive troll and should be good.

I can still see the sniper having his uses. Jarate seems fantastic against hordes and the Huntsman wouldn't be half bad with some team support. Rifles less so though I can see them being very valuable for taking out enemy sniper bots at the back of the horde since I imagine they'd be quite pesky to deal with if you're fighting a dense horde on the frontlines. Basically I can see having one around for support being nice but you wouldn't want too many of them, so pretty much like the normal game modes really Razz

Pyro seems like it'd be decent what with all these melee centric robots. I see no reason for them to not take afterburn damage (there are already sillier things in tf2 than setting metal on fire) and airblasts will help a lot. I agree though that at the very least I'd expect the (non Scout) gaints to have knockback resistance if not total immunity.

Scout I was probably the one I was most doubtful of but instant respawns and those extra passives should do the trick for him.

Scout's a troll.

Medics are going to be indispensable, but every class seems to be incredibly useful, and it's going to be difficult choosing only six - I guess people go with what they're happiest to play.

Also did you guys see that if you click on the grenade launcher you get this: http://media.steampowered.com/apps/tf2/tobor/upgrade_ui.jpg

Day 3's up.

I wouldn't mind trying out the Mann Up Mode...after I've had a bit of practice on normal mode. Paying to get cool shit sounds kinda fair. At least you can still play properly without having to pay, and that's good.

Not to mention what you get out of Mann Up Mode is strictly cosmetic and will not give those who pay for the ticket an advantage of any sort. So it is fair.

Tickets are not consumed if you lose or if you have already successfully completed the Tour of Duty you played.

I am liking this idea.

Also there's only a couple of achievements you get via Mann Up Mode, I think, and the tickets are pretty inexpensive too. :U

I don't know what you guys are talking about, I got into a match right away. I already got a ton of achievements for it and found that sniper is kick ass. Even more so with full damage and full reload speed. AND I found out how to fix the glitch that makes the bots not move at their spawn in the first game I played of it.

We had to wait a while but then we played for a good hour and a half.

You know what class is bloody good for MvM? Engineer. We went 5 Engineers at one point and shit was crazy. Even afterwards when we went back to one Engineer, holy shit. Racking up 55 kills on a sentry feels good, man. My sentry did me proud when I frantically placed it down right where the tank was coming, it basically phased through the tank, and along with everyone else frantically attacking it, it took out the tank right before it started to deploy the bomb.

I had to deal with a LOT of sentry busters but I got pretty good at getting away from them.

Also, I want the Archemedes plush for my birthday. And Balloonicorn, apparently those are coming back in stock now.

Truth.

Current high score is 113 kills, 6 assists on one sentry.

At first I thought Medic was the class you needed to have, but now I've realised that the class you really need is an Engineer. A well placed sentry and dispenser make a massive difference. Course then you get the rounds where it's like HEY ENGIE A SPY AND A SENTRY BUSTER ARE ON THE LOOSE and you're just like ffffff but that's usually not too bad. First upgrade I get is firing speed, then after I've upgraded that a bit, I upgrade sentry health.

That is pretty impressive TD! Mine is like, 55 and 15. :U
