This is like the second best Fan-made movie from a Nintendo franchise I've ever seen.
The series of short movies is called "Rise Of The Mushroom Kingdom" and it's all done with original sprites from old Mario games.
It's epic, funny, and just effing awesome.

There are four episodes, my favorite is probably the last one.
