What's Your Most Memorable Boss Battle?

Post  Eiron on Sat Oct 11, 2008 8:51 pm

Yep. Title is pretty self explanatory. List the most memorable boss battle you've encountered and why. Was it tougher than nails? Cool character? Awesome music? I would nominate a boss from Baten kaitos Origins, but for the sake of discussability (which is now officially a word), I'm going with the final battle with Ganon in the Wind Waker. Not really hard, but damn was it epic. And it did the unheard of and developed Ganondorf's character.

So I'm slightly undercultured in some gaming circles. I accept your Goldfish, and raise you one Ulmeida of Killer 7.

Yes, definately one of my most memorable. Best ending to any Zelda game.

Other memorable ones are the final bosses in Metroid Prime 1 and 3. Both were hard, the Prime 3 one even harder because you were given a sort of time limit. I ended up beating the Prime 1 boss first try after taking a month break from it, because it was that hard for me at the time.

DUDE. YOU DID NOT JUST SAY THAT. OCARINA OF TIME IS, LIKE, STANDING RIGHT THERE. You hurt his feelings. Apologize.

No. I stand by it. Ganondorf takes the Masters Sword into the head and the King of Hyrule makes a wish and goes down with the Kingdom. Truly the best of the Zelda endings.

I don't remember it, and I beat the game after Wind Waker. Seriously, just doesn't stick out.

Don't forget the Omega Pirate and the Boost Ball Gaurdian. I wanted to gouge my eyes out after getting killed fifteen times in a row by those guys.

I'm not a fan of Ocarina of Time...=o

Let's see, awesome bosses? Haha, I remember trying to beat The End in MGS 3, and failing miserably. I turned the game off for a few months, and when I turned it back on, he was dead! =D I nearly crapped myself in how awesome it was. Best boss battle ever.

Seriously, though? I dunno. I play too many RPGs to remember a good half of them right now. xp

Speaking of RPG's, the second boss you fight after reaching the Tower of Salvation in Tales of Symphonia transcends awesomeness. (I'm trying to be spoiler free here) My jaw literally hit the floor.

One of my favorite moments in the GTA franchise was the speedboat chase/shootout with [spoiler] halfway through San Andreas.

I liked the final boss fight from Wind Waker more than Orcarina of Time. I liked the Gannondorf in that game more than any other Zelda. So existential!!

Zero-Two from Kirby 64 has to be the most memorable and messed up boss I ever fought. The atmosphere of that fight was pretty shocking. It had to be the cutest Kirby game ever designed and at the end... if you truly got all the crystal shards you unlocked the actual final boss... which was most unexpected. Zero-two... a angelic, bleeding eyeball.

Zero was also shocking in Dreamland 3 where suddenly the screen blinks twice and there he is ... taking up a good portion of the screen. Freaked me out for some reason. Not to mention he shoots blood at Kirby. WTH.

Also... Jet Set Radio... fighting on a giant spinning disc on top of a skyscraper. YEAAH. Hippest fight ever!

Not sure if "existential" is the right word.

Hm, how about just thoughtful? It's been while since I've played the game but darn if he didn't seem like he had more on his mind.

Oh yeah, they were hard ones too.

I'm thinking this is more of a miniboss, but one of my all time favorites is fighting Star Wolf In Star Fox 64. Epic times were had.

Oh that was a long time ago, but yes, I remember it being rather epic. Andross was a pretty neat boss...well as neat as a gaint floating monkey head gets
