Re: What's Your Most Memorable Boss Battle?

Post  Weldar on Tue Oct 14, 2008 5:22 am

For some reason I found the fights with Stallord and Arogrok in TP really fun, despite the fact they were so easy. And Blizzeta had the best music, my favourite song in the whole game. The Great Mighty Poo from Conker's Bad Fur day is also pretty memorable, he's a giant singing piece of shit, nuff said really. Then there's Majora's Mask, specifically Majora's Incarnation, that guys creeps me out so much. And I can't forget Giygas from Earthbound, my heart was really punding by the end of the battle. He's probably my favourite boss battle ever, he's just so weird, I can't describe it. But really you have to play the game pictures don't do him justice.

Can't let you do that Star Fox! epicepicepicepicepicepic. Stallord was easily the funnest/most difficult boss in Twilight Princess. Never played Earthbound so I can't really comment. One of my friends plays a modded version on his laptop constantly, and he's absolutely obsessed with it.

Oh, how could I forget him? He was awesome. I never played through the whole Conker, but I played parts of my friends including that boss at one point, and the song he sings is the best.

Even if I had been exposed to stuff like that as a child, I'm not sure I would like the effect it would have on me. Despite loving games like Resident Evil 4 and No More Heroes, I think desensitization to violence and crudeness, is, well, kind of a problem.

Violence is cool now, but not for little kids.

I like Shiggy's philosophy on it: Violence is acceptable if it serves a purpose other than violence for the sake of violence. It has to mean something.

well otherwise it's just stupid,
but even meaningful violence can be too much for little kids.

Haha, same here. I never got into Earthbound but that's because I'm not big on RPGs PERIOD. I guess I were forced to play something turn-based I'd go for Earthbound, though. I enjoyed the setting, atmosphere, and characters. They looked so cute. Compared to everything now HANDSOME YOUNG LADS WITH BIG SWORDS IN FANTASY SETTING... I'd take the adventures of a kid and his group vs alien scum anyday.

Um...Damn, I guess Fire Emblem does kinda fall under that category. Speaking of which, fighting the Black Knight on hard mode is quite possibly the most tense boss fight I've ever played. You lose, and its an hour long battle to get back to him. Not to mention the only possible way you can win is to use Aether at least once, and after a turn or two, reinforcments show up to kill your healer.

Then you find out in the sequel he let you win. Its the hardest fight in the game and HE'S GOING EASY ON YOU.

Yeah, OMG I actually gave up on my first two playthroughs because I was sick of going back and then on my third PT, which I did so I get bonuses for my Radiant Dawn Playthrough, and I beat it first try no problem and had Mist leveld up and everything. Thing is, i didn't really need her too. I was all WTF are you serious? It wasn't easy, just easier than I remembered. And yeah the thing he says in RD made me all WTF too.
