Really sad- Just took me 3 hours training for an elite gym battle in Pokemon: Soul Silver. Yes, I had many attempts against the gym leader, only to fail sadly

After hours of training I was soon strong enough to defeat my foe. It was an epic battle. Oh yeah, it was the 2ND gym leader. >.<

Just beat the Modern Warfare 2 campaign.

Spoiler:
DAMN. Sure, not a hard boss battle (you threw a knife, that's it), but it was intense. I'm not an emotional guy, but boy, was it moving.

Oh, and I think I forgot to mention Bad Girl from No More Heroes before. The fight was fun, but the music and the character's personality rounded it off to perfection.

I would probably say that King K. Rool from Donkey Kong Country 2, only because he was so hard when I had to beat him as a kid. Now, I could probably beat him in 10 seconds.

Oh yeah, and hi everyone, it totally hasn't been 2 months since I've been here, I swear.

Most Memorable Boss Battle?

Vatti from Minish Cap
An easyish Zelda game then in the third act BAM the difficulty went to a state in-between Zelda 2 and Alttp it was Epic and his presence was felt throughout the game from beginning to end. Thus he was more menacing than the last two portable final bosses.

Lavos from Chrono trigger. Play the game, love the game, be the game.

Ganondorf from OoT or WW. Amazing and Epic fights suitable of the king of evil.

I gotta say one of the things that makes a good boss or even a good evil group is the said boss's/evil group's ability to appear like they effect events without always being in your face.

That brings me to another favorite of mine:

The boss from FE7 (the one with Eliwood, Lyn, and Hector as Lords). Even though the boss fight itself isn't that hard (A bishop with aureola or whichever the maximum light is will destroy Nergal, and then the dragon can be longranged with relative ease), it was one of my all-time favorites, simply because beyond just knowing that the entire game has been building to that point you can feel the intensity of it.

A small part of my appreciation for that fight may have been simply because it was the first FE walkthrough I'd completed, and I love the story for that game as it is, but I think it was very well done.

EDIT: @DRTJR-I actually found that the Twilight Princess fight was one of the more epic Ganon battles as well, although blatantly easy.

Honestly, I think Lavos is kind of disappointing as a villain... Battle is cool though.

I dunno, Lavos to me was always one of the better villains.

He's been there throughout Earths History. He insures the destruction of the planet and his MANY Spawn would grow up to do likewise on other planets. He's a parasite so there's no logic or reason in him, just instinct. AND He comes across as INSANELY powerful. It can be surprisingly hard to do that in RPGs, Once you level grind bosses kinda lose their challange, but even with hours of grinding Lavos is no pushover.

Not my favourite, but still one of the best bosses in my opinion.

I think the whole "Cultivating the earth to eat it" thing was kinda lame personally. I was like, "Yeah, that's a bit farfetched". That's just me I guess. Razz

That, and I prefer villains who talk/have a personality. He wasn't the worst villain, he was pretty cool, but I think he coulda been better.

I'll admit I was impressed by the ominous presence of him as well. You're right, he did seem like a real threat to the characters. I wouldn't say he was exceptionally hard, but in the other sense, yeah.

It's been a while since I played it, but I don't think he was cultivating it. I though Lavos just came from some other planet, burrowed deep into the earth, and was sorta living off the planet like a parasite.

When it had finished eating the plaent's innards it broke to the surface and destroyed everything by showing the whole planet with Lavos Spawn. Then Lavos died and the Spawn would leave for new planets and repeat the process.

I don't know what it is about that, but an uncaring evil seems to be worse (Or better, for us).

This. AND THE MUSIC WAS FKN AMAZING.

(HG/SS updates were pretty bloody amazing too)

Still, I always found Lorelei the most difficult battle of Red/Blue. Red was bloody difficult though. I cheated and used Arceus in SoulSilver, and it was still pretty close.

I kinda picked 6 pokemon suited to defeat his 6 and trained them to lvl 65 to steamwaltz him. Not much trouble, used less then 5 full restores....unlike him. My Scizor vs his Venusaur lasted forever. Still I had the luxury to pick due to size of my army Razz how convenient (not compensating)

I still believe, that Lavos is epic.Even after his defeat,he threatens to destroy the whole universe(becoming the Time Devourer and such)

Standard Lavos fight is awesome, but beating him with Crono only right at the beginning of NewGame+,that is incredibly satisfying.

The Archdemon of DragonAge was nice, too

Well, if Magus is in your party during the final battle, he has this to say:

"We were created only to be harvested. All people... and all living things..."

Mind you, this line was apparently added for the US version and isn't in the original Japanese release.

I think he meant that the entirety of their past was just to feed this monster, not that the monster itself had cultivated them.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I got some Chrono Trigger to play.

That's what I thought at first, but I read somewhere Lavos had literally been manipulating the human race's progress. I dunno where I read that, I dunno if it's right, but I'll see if I can find it again.

In any case, I'd say Lavos is interesting in concept and (parts) of his backstory are cool, but not a very interesting character overall.
