No, but I think Midna falls under that category. Eiji Aonuma himself said that her return is possible, since the fans seem to love her so much.

Midna was excellent, but that seem like a really hard char to bring back. I thought TP really wrapped things up for her in the end.

Knowing Nintendo... they'll find a way.

The ending to TP was sad, but GOOD.

Even though I would like to see Midna again, I don't know if they should bring her back.

I think I'd be content if we never saw Midna again. I liked her but they wrapped up her story nicely and bringing her back just for the sake of it is a bad idea. If they already had something planned then fine but otherwise just let her go. Besides I'm still waitng for my purple fairy

You know what would be cool. Bring back Sheik and have her be playable.

I think bringing Midna back would not be a good idea, I mean she's a good character, but taking a character back for the sake of popularity isn't the best thing to do. And I'm sure Nintendo knows that. Unless of course, like Weldar said, they had something planned out already.

Eiron wrote:No you do not. Joking, I really didn't think she was as bad as most people seem to think. Its certainly possible we'll see her again. Aren't fairies, like, immortal? That would take care of most timeline issues right there...

I've never understood why people kept saying she was so annoying. I mean, Navi doesn't say "Hey," every two seconds.

Which is what someone would assume, going by the way they're acting.

I love Navi! The periodic Heys and Listens made me feel like I wasn't alone.

agree with you on that one. The "Hey!" stuff was minor, I'd be more annoyed with whatever she had to say, if it was painfully obvious, like when you first step up to a big locked door, that obviously has a big keyhole lock attached to it. No, really Navi? I wouldn't have guessed that it required a key

I only wish Link would figure out how to open a door without BREAKING the key. That would be so nice.

^Actually, I'd prefer it if the puzzles didn't revolve around keys and such at all. It seems to video gamey. Seriously, "To collect the Sword of Evil's Bane, oh Hero, you must pass our challenge....A BOX SLIDING PUZZLE!"

Stuff like that is why I think Prime 3 outdid Twilight Princess overall.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Discussion.

Post  Smashy B on Tue Oct 28, 2008 5:18 pm

In a couple episode of The Wiire podcast that I subscribe to, they were talking about what Nintendo could do to re-invent the franchise. They (well, one guy on the podcast, actually) made a list of what they could do and it came down to a few things:

  1. Combine elements from Prince of Persia and Shadow of the Colossus.
  2. Have the game revolve more around exploring.
  3. Cut out Hyrule Field unless they would make it more adventuresome.
  4. Make use of items not so straightforward. (Think about the Gear from TP.) Basically have you think more of HOW you can uses an item instead of having it be so obvious. (SotC element.)
  5. Link should be more agile. He's like what, 17? He should be able to climb cliffs and ledges without having it be straightforward, maybe also allow him to wall run/jump. (This would be a big PoP element.)
  6. and more
You can get the podcasts on iTunes, if you want to hear for yourself. I'm not sure exactly which episodes this discussion were in. It was in like 2-3 episodes ranging from ep 110-114. I may find out though.

^^^THIS

These are all excellent ideas. The series is becoming tired, and i think they should take a leap of faith and spice up the zelda series. Even if they end up ruining it its still better then doing nothing.

Completely agree. The fact that the original formula is so good means that Nintendo can just rinse and repeat and people will still love it. However, in the long run this does nothing but hurt the series. Miyamoto stated at the pitful excuse that was E3 2008 that Zelda needed some major overhauls, but if he was talking about "making it more accessible for the new broader audiance," heads will roll.

Yup, when Tatl didn't want to go to the moon and Tael did I thought you'd get him for the final battle.

There's actually quite a bit of speculation saying that Retro Studios has been assigned to develope the next Zelda. If true, I wouldn't worry about the casual issue. The problem is that its just a rumor, and a huge one at that.

Those things smashbro said before sound good, except for wall-running. That would be too... gimmicky, or too much like PoP. xp I don't think they should copy other series, but try to find their own ways to revitalize the series.

Also not a fan of the wall-running. Link isn't supposed to be super-human. Just an unusually curious young adventurer.

I think the wall running/jumping could be something that could be included in certain instances, but not be a major focus of game play
