TWBB on da Tropes

Post  The Meta Knight on Tue Jan 05, 2010 9:17 pm

I somehow dislike the idea that I'm making a thread for this... but I can't honestly figure out where I would put this.

TV TROPES.

There, I said it. There's a TWBB page on TV Tropes. Please discuss or suggest entries/pages to enhance the Troper experience.

------

I've been reading it over for sometime tonight and wow... just wow... I'm amazed. There are actually some points of logic on there that I don't think have surfaced yet on these boards and I like hearing what Tropes this series uses.

For example,
Gainax Ending ..... I agree with the statements on the page entirely.
Cult: Olimar leads a cult centered around Master Hand.
Fox: More like...Crazy Hand!
* If you want to get really technical, Fox is actually correct: the hand on Olimar's little shrine is a left hand. Master Hand is the right hand, Crazy Hand is the left.
* Holy $#!* on a $#!* sandwich!
That just blew my mind... I don't think this crossed our beloved creators' minds at all... but WOW.
HSQ: Episode 10. Full stop.
"Holy Shit Quotient" ... yeah... Anyone at MAGfest can attest to that.

Tons of High Octane Nightmare Fuel, Crowning Moments of Awesome, and the Crowning Moments of Funny are just terrific.

I was going to create a TWBB page on TV Tropes tomorrow if I didn't find one. This is awesome, though. Smile

If they did it might have just been linked to in a conversation, I didn't see a topic devoted to it or a topic similar enough to warrant the addition of this. Hence, a new thread.

I like the last WMG entry:

Spoiler:
In the end, Kirby took over Nintendo
That's what he's doing with Miyamoto Shigeru's skin.

That makes a lot of sense to me. Razz

I hate you for sending me there.
I found this topic not five minutes after you posted it, thinking "Oh, I'll just check out the article and come back."
I wasted hours of my life in there!

No, it wasn't miyamoto leaving his office, Miyamoto was entering the office, and Kirby was waiting at his desk. This is very similar to silence of the lambs, how

I've been watching TV and reading that page in between commercials. Took two hours.

Ahahaha, this is my problem with TVTropes and why I don't like going there. First time I went there, I didn't do ANYTHING else for like 26 hours but read pages on stuff I recognized or topics I was interested in and still didn't read them all. That would later lead to my finding a bookmark I made and getting stuck again for the better part of a day as I found new things I hadn't seen.

But I have to say one thing.. I didn't go to the article, but it was something stated in the first post: "Gainax Ending". I don't wanna say it, but there is a certain amount of truth to that description of the end of TWBB. So many people end up dead (some of whom were expected to die, others who weren't, and some you hoped wouldn't but figured they probably would). Of course, unlike a real Gainax Ending, this has a bit of an epilogue where you get a surprise at the end. One of the best examples of the GE, Neon Genesis Evanglion, had such a downer ending that almost everyone died or wished they had died. I'm thankful that while TWBB had some similarities, it still ended on a more positive/humourous note than most endings likened to a Gainax Ending.

EDIT: *an hour later* Damn it! I went there anyways! >_<

Well, duh... They've got a warning right on the site itself. TV Tropes will ruin your life. I mean, you just start by taking a Wiki Walk and end up with a serious Tab Explosion.

(Note: I have 44 TV Tropes pages open right now, due to opening many links from the TWBB page.)

It's the Wiki Effect. You start on one page and you keep clicking links as it draws you in.

Tropes aren't for everyone, but they exist and that's what counts.
