It wouldn't be that hard to kill a man with a pen

Simply having an intelligent bad guy isn't scary in the sense of horror scary, that alone is just OSHIT scary. Ganon was a pretty proficient manipulator: not horror scary, just OSHIT scary.

The thing about Kirby's evil isn't just that he's intelligent and will play you like a puppet, it's that he takes that intelligence and uses it to drive the world toward oblivion. His goals were simply to see the world burn. Kirby had no true motive other than to see everything collapse around him. Seeing the corruption of that intelligence and power into something without true purpose, that's what was so scary about Kirby, far scarier than the simply destructive force present in the Butchers. Ness and Lucas were certainly horror scary, yes, but comparing two kids with psychic powers to a mastermind who ultimately wants nothing more than the drowning of the world in filth and slaughter, and the eclipsing of the sun in an endless night of flames? Kirby wins it.

The thing with the whole mindless destruction things is yeah it's like a force of nature. But that isn't really too scary in itself, it simply brings up a fear of death. It's like a tornado or something, it's incredible powerful, being face to face with it means it's very likely you're about to die and that's a scary thought. But something like Kirby or Hannibal, so twisted and corrupted but still rational, even without a sense of danger it would still mange to be really unnerving and creepy. It's a lot easier to just dismiss the mindless, it hardly feels like a living thing at all. And it;s also a fact they don't need to kill you, they can twist and manipulate you, they can mess with your, they could do unspeakable things to you or turn you just as bad as them and still keep you alive.

One Child Retortion

Post  TheBlackPhoenix100 on Sun May 08, 2011 7:57 pm

One child worth fighting for? What child may be left is giggling in a corner, bleeding. This kingdom has devoured itself in its insatiable hunger. And the children have drowned in the blood of its open wounds. Their parents, dead. Their pride, battered. Their euphoria, torn. They've realized what you yourself deny. What Gods may have once served us are gone. They have abandoned you. Surely the whore that they called "mother" realized this as she was dragged down into a gutter. Beaten, raped, left to whatever might have awaited them. The children make no attempt to hide. They look up at a starless night. Then down at their bloodied hands. Then at their selves. They see torn, tattered clothes. They see red eyes that hunger for blood. They see charred, burnt skin. But most important. They look within, and see blackness. They can't see anything. But the darkness doesn't frighten them. They embrace it. So you see. There is one child who continues to laugh, as long as the blood runs through this barren world. I can't let that laughter stop. I'm too kind to do that. I will assure you. As you lie on this wet ground with your body mutilated and decorated with your lover's entrails, you may just hear that laughter, and see that beautiful smile of that beloved child, as he gouges out your eyes. Twisted Evil
