What a piece of work is a man....

Post  SnakeInABox on Thu Mar 11, 2010 8:09 pm

How noble in reason, how infinite in faculties. In form and moving how express and admirable. In action how like an angel... In admiration how like a... god. And yet, to me, what is this quintessence of dust? Man delights not me.

Here is the thread where we talk about Art. Art has many different definitions, I will let you choose what it means to you.

For me, it is the Theatre. I will probably only indulge myself in those conversations.

Mentok, you are good.

Yea, I know. I am just kinda.... jittery today. I had a real pisser, and being here makes me feel better. so when its a slow day on the forums, I try to do all I can to pick it up.

Of course, making new threads isnt going to do shit, I know.

Regardless, lets talk about art.

I am not a big fan of Much Ado myself. but it deserves its recognition.

Ok, ok Snake. I guess I agree with you that Hamlet is Shakespear's best work.

The monolouge and asides are pretty awesome, especially if you get to read them aloud in a group.

Shakespear....in Holland? bwahaha I wish. Trust me, its bloody hard to even find someone else who read it here, let alone actually find a book.

So I read Stephen King instead. Also, I came across one of the oddest works of art ever. in a dead end hallway, there hung a sign saying: take thirty steps back. Everyone did it, just to find out we had been artistically rickrolled, still viewing nothing but a blind wall with a sign.

Science was here. Art is a loser.

Never was a fan of Shakespeare, but that's probably because we had to study the hell out of him in school. The ones I did were Romeo and Juliet, Othello and Merchant of Venice. Well, the mindfuckery of Othello was pretty good (Iago, you magnificent bastard), but on a whole, meh.

Which means of course I have to post this:

From Blackadder Back and Forth. Baldrick builds a time machine and Blackadder visits (and messes up) key moments in Englsh history. This scene made everyone who's ever done GCSE English cheer Very Happy

As for my own form of art, well...I paint models. That's pretty much it. I enjoy writing but I haven't done that seriously for a long time. I attempt to draw every now and again, but it usually doesn't end well Razz

I try to do it all, write, draw, and film, but all forms end up pretty badly.

As for that clip, YES. I woudln't mind Shakespear 1/10 as much if they'd just tell us to read the things and then have a test, but for some reason, when it comes to Shakespear teachers want to get interactive... Ugh.

Bumping with one of the greatest lines of prose ever written

Dogberry:Marry, sir, they have committed false report; moreover, they have spoken untruths; secondarily, they are slanders; sixth and lastly, they have belied a lady; thirdly, they have verified unjust things; and, to conclude, they are lying knaves.

Okay, sorry to everyone here who seems to love Shakespeare, but last year for school I watched a Midsummer's night dream, and imo it was really weird. It just didn't seem plausible in the slightest

Correction, I said post your opinions. I take it back now.

Just kidding. And Midsummer is not my favorite either. But Shakespeare, that man got some balls.
