Q, it's funny to see how much your music taste resembles mine from a few years back with those few bands :p
Anyway, suggestions suggestions.....

Modest Mouse I got into just lately. I can't quite put my finger on why i like them though.

It has a bit of a country-esque buildup, but then it hits you in the face with a completely different tune.

Found them through a Homestuck fanart video :p

Shinedown, pretty much made me have that whole "feeling strong" sense you described with Three Days Grace. Funnily enough i got into Shinedown right after I got out of my Three Days Grace phase.

That last one has special meanings to me, so you might not find it as good. But it holds a place close to my heart, so maybe it will to you too :p

SOiL, my heavy metal/dubstep/hardcore-fan of a cousin got me into when he just started getting into that whole shabang of the music-business.

THere has been some switching with Drowning pool, but i dont know who went to where, so I'll just send you a few of them too.

I probably have more but i gotta go now so I'll write it up some other time.

I love Devour, one of my favourite songs after I saw it set to a Ganon combo video

Perry, I like the way you think with both of those bands. I think Shinedown is finding itself a welcome addition to my collection, maybe Modest Mouse and Soil too, haven't decided yet.

Still need to check out Hollywood Undead and a few others you guys suggested.

Green day has never been my favorite, but that's just my opinion. I don't judge Razz.

I already have just about every Beatles song thanks to one of my friends, and am regretting it, as they now come up almost every other song when I shuffle.

Like you, Perry, I tend to pick songs often that hold a good amount of personal meaning. The one you listed is pretty good, btw. For me, sometimes it's a situation where the song comes on at an eerily appropriate time to what's going on in my life, and just kind of resonates. Half the time this is over something good, half the time it's bad. I Will Not Bow, which I listed earlier, is one such example.

And to prove to you guys that my taste in music is quite diverse:

Streetlight is good, though if I listen to just them for an extended period of time they seem to flow together and I HAVE TO STOP. That kind of goes for any band though.

That's a pretty odd song Q. I like odd songs Razz

Been listening a lot of Bad Religion lately. It's just one of the few bands I like almost every song off. Not many bands have that dubious honor Razz

Turns out they aren't too bad accoustic either. I especially like this one. Quite a diffrent subject matter from normal punk rock bands, with a vocabulary at least twice as large.

Then I got MadWorld from a friend, and re-discovered that I love rap when its either tongue in cheek, dark, or both, trough the themesong. It's surprisingly good for a game so under-the-radar. This one if from the final boss no less. Just listen how relaxed it sounds.

Aaaand rediscovered a classic through guitar hero. Dont judge me.

I used to be a huge fan of them years ago. They were probably my gateway drug into metal, and certainly the soundtrack of my late teens. Not as keen on them now as I was, but I still enjoy listening to them.

One of my favs:

Re: Music and Bands

Post  Smashy B on Sat Nov 26, 2011 1:43 am

I've said it before a few times in this thread that my favorite band is Avenged Sevenfold. Well, I have yet to see them live. Typically whenever they would go on tour, they'd either be playing near my hometown in the middle of the week while I'm at school, or not be anywhere near Rocklin while I was off on breaks. One of the venues during an Uproar tour was at San Jose (couldn't go to atm ofc) got canceled for whatever reason and now they're doing a make-up concert on December 16th. I'm through with finals on December 7th and will be on winter break. Schweet.

What makes it better is that Hollywood Undead and Asking Alexandria, my 2nd and 3rd favorite bands, will also be performing as well since they were apart of the uproar tour. I was able to get two tickets about a week ago and confirmed today that I could print them out. Had to wait cause I guess people that had tickets to the first concert had priority. Even got up early to get tickets when they were first available.

Best part: A7x was generous enough to make it a free concert.

I am really into dub step now. Well, more specifically, I'm into Skrillex. I haven;'t really branched out from there, since dub step is a lot of hit and miss for me (mostly miss). It's hard to find tracks that sound good, but Skrillex does them well.

First time I was exposed to him, I was super high and hanging at a friend's and he showed me the following video.

the 3 minute song felt like it was ten minutes long, but I felt like I understood dub step.

(For funsies, the CALL 911 NOW in Equinox was sampled from this crazy lady.)

Ruffneck Bass is my favorite one by skrillex though. Awesome video with catchy lead in and a bass drop I like.

(sorry for the double post, it's been a day and it's a new idea)

I've gotten into ska lately, mostly Reel Big Fish, Streetlight Manifesto, and the Aquabats. All are reaaallllly good. Another band that's like ska, but with jazz, funk, and awesome influences, is the Cat Empire, straight out of Australia. Hey Weldar, if you know about the Cat Empire, I was wondering are they popular in Australia?
