I like The Cure. And Muse. And Radiohead. And lots of stuff.
My music education is lacking of late. I have half-sisters so in the car, instead of getting the radio, I'm exposed to The Wiggles and shiz.
Then at home I mostly listen to what I already have. I suck.

There was a rumour Bowie was going to be headlining the Big Day Out festival in Australia.

He isn't, sadly.

But on the bright side, the headliners are: Muse! I nearly squealed in excitement when I found out, ahaha.

My favorite music is usually obscure:

Yndi Halda
Kayo Dot
Russian Circles
Bohren und der Club of Gore
Maudlin of the Well

Opeth

Look any of these guys up for some damn good music. (though Kayo Dot is off putting)

Popular music I like is:
Breaking Benjamin
Radiohead
Mastodon
Yes

Red

Muse

Intactus
Riff Raff

Post  Dixon_Cider on Sat Oct 03, 2009 1:29 am

well without a doubt my favorite band right now is Skillet!! For a christian rock driven band they are without a doubt one of the hardest and powerfullest bands I ever heard with smashing thunderous chords and amazing lyrics!! Anberlin and Framing Hanley are close second place with me Smile afro

I feel bad that I don't know many of those bands.

The Decemberists, however, are playing at the Big Day Out, I think.

An event I now have tickets for.

Muse are headlining! Very Happy

It's okay:)

The last song is one of the saddest songs ever. Its so simple. So honest. So true. Just a piano and a cello. I can email you it if you want. All of his songs are great.

To big for my blood.

I mean, when your fav musician looks at you and you get excited (ZOMG! HE LOOKED AT ME!), thats not as cool as shaking the hand of your favorite musician, and having his autograph be this:

I mean, he does shows as small as playing in a persons house with 10 people to playing The Bowery with several hundred. Big shows aren't his thing. And they are usually free or very cheap intimate venues. And yet, he tours the world, playing in Australia, Japan,Norway, Poland, etc.

That's badass and I was just mentioning because we're a city of 150,000 literally 45 minutes, if, from Toronto where they played Friday I think. It's just rare to see a big name like them play here much like when we had the Rolling Stones play our city back in the 70's or 80's? when Maple Leaf Gardens was booked up and Keith Richards had to do a charity beneifit show as his community service for getting busted with some drug(s). Just a bit of history lesson I guess from my city lol

Well Im in NYC, but there are some small shows...Hes doing one on Halloween one the following night. In a documentary about him, he does a small tour before a large tour...the docu is about a small tour. He literally plays peoples houses. He sits in a circle and...well...this is the trailer:

(hes the guy with the black hair, the other guy is from Little Wings...both one-man-bands)

(I was at a show where he had the lights turned off completely. His songs are atmospheric and about stuff like being lost in the woods. So its pitch black, but the windows to this place are open, and the breeze is blowing through the window. Alot of his songs are sing-alongs...like He has one called "The Universe" and on one of his live albums, (which was an audience of like 30 people), he has them sing quietly "I know you're out there" in the background while he bellows out the lines....

Its horribly chilling and awesome.

(The song in the majority of the trailer is called "Boom!" by Little Wings. The whole album is on last.fm for your pleasure: http://www.last.fm/music/Little+Wings/Light+Green+Leaves

Also, he prints his own records in his house! I ordered his wife's cd (her project is called Woelv) and it came in a hand-written package. In the docu, he is painting a picture on the package for a fan.

They are SO SO SO in touch with their fans and meet and greet them and sell their own merchandise...its very humbling.

My friend turned me on to A Day to Remember. Great band; love their Homesick album. I like their sound. They kinda remind me of a hard core Blink-182 or Taking Back Sunday. They can sing and scream and not overdue it with the (sounds mostly shouting really). I don't like songs that are all scream (see: a lot of songs by As I Lay Dying)

My favorite song by them so far.

Their cover of The Fray's Over my Head (Cable Car)
