Psh...what's been announced since then? Sentinel and Hsien-Ko? Also, the screenshots of Shuma and Jill look pretty promising.

I wish more of the TWBB community was into fighting games... I still play SSF4 regularly.

Meh. Only fighting games I really like are the smash bros games and the Dragon Ball Z games. With some exceptions.

If you really got into fighting games, you'd realize Smash Bros. doesn't really count as a member of the genre. And as far as I know, the DBZ games aren't all that balanced, or good as fighting games.

That said, I still love Smash, and play that competitively too. But it's pretty different. It's just that you can't enjoy fighting games unless you have a close-knit group of people to play with regularly.

Smash is a fighting game, just not the same as the others.

I suppose, technically, you can't deny that it is a fighter, as there really isn't much else to call it. But the differences are enough for playing Smash versus any other fighter that there isn't much solid comparison. There's zoning, spacing, and pokes, but the primary system and goals are so radically different, that any skill obtained in one "genre" can't really transfer over to the other. It's mostly the idea of knockouts vs. k.o. and the differences in stage presence that set Smash apart from other fighting games.

And yes...I'm not really disagreeing with anything either of you are saying, and this isn't an argument. I just like to type words about things I'm passionate and knowledgeable towards.

I see what you mean. Though I love flying around and shooting huge beams of energy at people in DBZ. Visually fucking epic. And I actually just started playing Dragon Ball Z Raging Blast 2 a few days ago and I fucking love that game.

The fighting games I like most are Smash Bros and Power Stone, mostly on the grounds of "I don't have to memorize a huge list of move combinations to be good", can't be bothered to commit those move lists to memory.

e.g.

Spoiler:
In Soul Calibur 2, the character I like to use would be Talim. This is Talim's move list.

@Relm: Man, you picked the wrong game. Soul Calibur is easily the most complex, move-intensive fighting game I've ever played. Any 3D fighter, really, can get overlly complex. Games like Street Fighter, each character really only has a total of 20 or so moves (including single button presses), that are pretty intuitive and transfer from character to character well.

And Snake...yeah. A lot of high level smash involves a helluva a lot of grabbing. Especially with characters who have chaingrabs.

Got it confused

Post  nn8n on Fri Feb 11, 2011 6:52 pm

Omicron Austin, Rem did use it correctly as he was saying that SC is complex that he doesn't like trying to memorize everything.

Me personally with 3D complex move list don't memorize anything just a few streams that I do over randomly unpredictably with different timings everytime.

I can't say for ABSOLUTELY sure (don't have the game yet) but TV Tropes twice mentions him hitting on Tron Bonne.

As is to be expected from billionaire playboy Tony Stark, however, Trons still only like 14. Though she does look older, but still not even close to fair game for Tony.

I gotta say I'm not too big on fighting games as I've never been any good at them, nor at memorization, but I played MvC3 last night and really, really enjoyed it. I even built a team (then re-built a team because Sentinal is considered cheap.)

I am a bit disappointed at the roster though (its so little. D:) but even still, I had a lot of fun with it.

Team (1:)
Zero,
Sentinal,
Wesker

Team (When Sentinal is being too cheap)
Zero
Dante or Chris
Wesker

...because fuck Marvel.
I kid.
But Capcom has a better cast IMO.

Finally got my first chance to play around with it.

This is a LOT more execution based than I thought it would be. Tried some combos with my favorite character, Felicia. The speed is pretty harsh and the timing is strict. This is going to take some time.

That being said, I also learned a solid bread and butter with Hulk in about ten minutes. Because my friends and I all suck, Hulk and Sentinel seem incredibly overpowered. I know that it's pretty apparent that they are very good, but I'm sure they have weaknesses that we aren't entirely exploiting.

I haven't had an opportunity to play it yet, I want to mess around with it in fun matches with people who're only half taking it seriously but I haven't had that chance.

Being only able to play at the Mana Bar adds to that I guess.

I'm thinking I might use Deadpool, because I don't want Ansem to say I have to die, Amaterasu, and C. Viper.

I've been playing on and off with a Rental since I don't have Live and playing against the AI get's boring after a while, and the harder AI are so mindnumbing-ling annoying at times.
(It took me 2 hours and 1/2 JUST to beat V.Hard by non-cheap means)

My preset teams are
Team 1:
Amaterasu
Wesker
Chris

Team 2:
Dante
Wesker
Amaterasu

Team 3:
Arthur
Spencer
Wesker

I can still play Deadpool whenever needed, however.
