Actually they explored the brawl game disc (with haxx) and Mewtwo was the most developed canceled character. He apparently had a few moves programmed and even recorded audio for a final smash. Imagine that.

When they announced that you could switch between ZSS and regular Samus by smamming the up and down taunts, I somehow got the crazy idea that maybe if you did the same with Ganondorf (His sword taunt and his evil laugh taunt), you could use the sword in battle. Sad

It seemed reasonable at the time.

I think they would have been very smart to have given ganondorf a sword based moveset, clearly its what everyone (except a few of the then current ganondorf mains) wanted.

Yeah, people were pretty pissed. I mean, the biggest, baddest, Nintendo villain ever is a clone? You know what REALLY pissed me off? If Ganon is holding a beam sword, he performs the sword attacks he used in Twilight Princess. Standard A is the thrust, and Forward Smash is the spinning slash he uses after elbowing you.

Interesting. What other characters were semideveloped?

I know that they also discovered a data packet labeled Roy, but The article I read made it seem as though they were unable to open it, and weren't even sure if it applied to FE Roy, or Roy Cambell from MGS.

There was info on Roy and Dr. Mario, but most figured it was just leftover data from everything they imported from melee

I heard there back about when Brawl came out from a friend, that there is a forbidden 7 on Brawl. Basically, there are 7 fighters written on the game but Nintendo had to cut/block them out due to time and funding. blah blah balh
If I remember correctly, they were:
1. Roy
2. Dr. Mario
3. Mewtwo
4. Plusle/Minun combo (think Ice Climbers)
5. Toon Zelda (I vote not)
6. Tetra- *Toon Sheik* (I vote yes for the Tetra. They were counted as two characters' but they would also probably be a Zelda/Sheik combo.
7. Dixie Kong... I dunno why.

Discuss. And I'm not just shoveling shit, btw.

Then why wouldn't there be any on Pichu?

Okay, Mewtwo had some recorded data (sounds and attacks) and was most likely one of the last scrapped characters.
DR. Mario and Roy were probably just leftover data from importing melee data over to brawl.
Plusle and Minun (found as a file labeled Pra and Mai) Were probably never meant to be plusle and minun, and were almost definitely not supposed to be a playable ice climber like duo, especially considering that the Nana and Popo each had separate character files.

and since I'm too lazy to write the rest, get your fill here:

EDIT: Link doesn't work, just copy paste into your browser.

I had that same thought, I'm guessing they deleted Pichu right away, then didn't care about the others once they were scrapped.

Poor Pichu. Like I care though. Very Happy

I did think Mewtwo's removal was odd.

If you look at all the confirmed characters, and extra one would ruin the whole format of the char select screen.

Personally, I don't think the return of mewtwo was necessary.

I'm not exactly an expert on pokemans, but Mewtwo seemed popular with the fans of both the Smash and the pokemon communities.

Epic Brawl Story!

This one time, I was playing online, and the lag was REALLY bad, and I was Ganon, who's REALLY slow anyways, but I was fighting this guy with a really fast character, and I was like, well shit, but he ran into Ganon's elbow and died, so I was like hahahahaha.

It was silly. Very Happy

I have a story like that. I was trying to do an online tourney match, so i picked metaknight, and the other guy was ganon, but the lag was so bad that i couldn't time anything to save my life. and i died. but the replay wasn't as awesome to watch as the match was.

Incedently, I got the LAN adaptor, so I should be able to play at school now. The internet there runs like greased lightning.
