Warchamp's Mafia Program Thing

So yeah, writing a program in a really awful language because it's the only thing I know well enough and I'm bored.

Progress: V0

RECOMMENDED MAFIA COUNT. SO FANCY

Post any ideas or feature requests here.

Right now my plan is to have an option of either assigning each player a number, or entering a list of all your roles and it will assign each player to that. I also eventually want to have it save it this all to a file.
The ultimate thing I'd like is to be able to load in those files.

So far I've used this. Works well, but what you seem to be doing looks quite promising. If you could have it auto-export to an excel document and a Word document (the formats I used to organize Game 6) that would be pretty awesome.

It should have an option for preselecting key roles. It needs to be done in some cases - you don't want a newbie playing as teh Mafia Don for example.

I did mine with a pen and paper Razz

An auto-balance feature would be nice. Say you want 3 third party roles, you put that in and it generates a suitable balance of townies/mafia to go with it.

RNG and my own experience. Sure it comes out lopsided sometimes, but that's when I pull out an act of God to balance it out XP

Preselecting roles in mafia is cheating. The new guy has the same chance of playing the don as the veteran player. Besides, the don isn't really that important, when you think about it, he is just a mafia that can't be scanned. He isn't necessarily the mafia leader.

Like games that end for Mafia when Don dies.

Or games where the Don has double the say over what other Mafians have.

In those cases, I damn sure dont want some noobfaced fucker to be my Don.

Games shouldn't specify that, The Don honestly is just a flavor title for an incognito mafian. In the event that the team loses when the don dies, he still doesn't have to lead. The team just has to be extra careful to keep him of all of the from looking suspicious. Double voting dons probably tend to be bossier, but still, he doesn't have to lead, and is smart to hand the reins over to more experienced players if he's out of his league.

Yeah who's the don is pretty much totally irrelevant, unless the game ends when the don dies but I really really don't like that mechanic, the mafia should all be working together as a team anyway, whoever's most suited to the task will take the lead if need be, it was a deliberate decision not to have a clear cut leader character in the mafia in my game, in fact the one with godfather powers was the only character you could really consider a minion, funny that.

That said I would consider rerolling if I got an entire team of newer/weaker players as a mafia. And for some more complicated/interesting roles (especially unique 3rd parties) I'd probably roll randomly from a slightly smaller list of players for it.
