but... the thing is, the story goes SS-MC-FS-OoT.

In OoT the master sword has an entire shrine, and is used as a seal for the sacred realm. So... where the hell is the shrine during MC/FS?

Did they suddenly find the sword that was lost since SS between FS and OoT and build a temple of time and then seal the sacred realm in that timespan?

I would hazard a guess that it (the it being the Temple of time) was burried under a mud/rock slide long before MC and was lost, but found long before OoT

Awesome. Thats almost guaranteed to be awesome

I just beat SS

Spoiler:

The second act of the game was INCREDIBLY BORING. So chore heavy, so little at stake. Also didn't like the repeated boss battle against the imprisoned one.

However, I did love the finale. The final temple was pretty fun, the massive horde of enemies you have to face of against, and a pretty damn tough final boss. I kinda wished they delved deeper in the slight paralels between Girahim and Fi, but can't get them all.
Also loved the design of the final boss. I kinda snickered at how cheesy it is revealed that he is basically the one setting every generations ganondorf, link and zelda in motion, but it kinda worked.

I did like TP better though

STOP TRYING TO LINK EVERY LITTLE DETAILS.

i know this is late but i laughed a little when i saw this....

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Discussion.

Post  Smashy B on Thu Feb 02, 2012 5:16 pm

So I'm about 20 hours into Skyward Sword and I thought I'd make some comments on it.

What I like: The game play is awesome. Works well and since it doesn't need the sensor bar, I can play at my desk and not have to scoot back. Boss battles have been fun, and nothing feels repetitive so far. The story is pretty good too, and I like the interaction between Link and Zelda.

What I don't like: A lot of the extra characters are kinda meh (See: Skyloft). There are crazy ones like we've come to expect from Zelda games, but other than a couple, there aren't really any that I like much in the ways of being background or minor characters.

What I hate: Fi. Her design is cool, but I hate that condescending know-it-all. She always has to summarize what an NPC tells me as if I didn't hear the first damn time. "I calculate that-" yeah, whatever, she just pulls statistics out of her ass. And stop calling me "Master". It feels weird...

Overall, though, it's a fun game.

I am pretty damn far in it so I will comment,

What I love, Peatrice(She is comedic gold), Groose, The puzzles, the Link/Zelda dynamic, The art style, Time shift stones, the characters.

What I tolerate, The motion controls, Fi(I picture sounding like Spock), Flying/swimming, Item management.

What I loath, tumble weed collecting, The text box speed, The sky and how empty if feels, The Imprisoned's design.

Nintendo is remaking Wind Waker for WiiU.

For the next Zelda game Nintendo is thinking of making it non-linear. They are playing with the idea of being able to play the game in the order you want, no set dungeon pattern.

Off-topic, ..... Yoshi's Epic Yarn? A Yoshi game with Kirby Epic Yarn theme. So Retro won't be working on a Yoshi game. So we have yet to hear from Retro yet.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Discussion.

Post  TD260 on Tue Feb 05, 2013 5:31 pm

So there I was, thinking about things before falling asleep. My mind fell on Zelda, and how Minish Cap made these really awesome references to the oracles in their game.

Then it hit me.

How could they be references to something in the future.

"Now, calm down," I told myself. "Obviously it was just a reference to games that were made before it came out."

Satisfied with that, I was about to go back to sleep, when it hit me.

Minish Cap's figurine system.

There were collectible figurines that provided flavortext and background info on people, places, and enemies in the game.

I tried to remember what the figurine text regarding the oracle references was.

And now I've dug the game out to quote it directly.

Farore: "She's looking for a house in Hyrule to move into. She's a very helpful person, but people take advantage of her kind nature. This really bothers her."

Alright, well, it's a reference to how her game was never made. (a 3rd oracle game was planned but later scrapped.) The house thing is part of a sidequest. Nothing that major here.

Din: "She's looking for a house in Hyrule to move into. She is a famous dancer from the land of Holodrum."

A-alright, this is kinda bad, but that's just a reference. Din in Oracle of Seasons was a dancer, so it's just a reference...

even though there are two eras and a vast number of years between the placement of Minish Cap and the appearance of the Oracle games so I have no idea how they know about Holodrum

Nayru: "She's looking for a house in Hyrule to move into. She is descended from a line of oracles in the land of Labrynna."

Labrynna is the land that Oracle of Ages takes place in.

... God dammit.

There is no mention of a "line of oracles" in Oracle of Ages, and yet one would assume that if there's an established line of oracles in that land in the second Age of the timeline, then said line HAS to exist in the 4th Age. Except, it doesn't. It's not mentioned at all. Which made me think that the Nayru in Oracle of Ages started the bloodline, especially given the romantic subplot with Ralph in that game.

Which means.

WHICH MEANS.

Minish Cap and it's related "Four Sword" titles come AFTER the Oracle games (In the defeated hero timeline).

That, or there's in a separate universe/timeline entirely, where the Four Sword is the main magical macguffin as opposed to the Master Sword.

I know your thinking really hard but, I have the hyrule historia, which makes minish cap come RIGHT after skyward sword.
Which is canon

I'm well aware of what the Historia says, I too own a copy. However, I believe it to be an error regardng the placement of MC.

So, uh, how about that CGI movie?

What I've seen so far, not a fan. There's something off about Link's design and Ganondorf is all wrong.

Also those shadow beasts were Moblins... I think, On the bright side Link was Left Handed, Ganondorf was the serious problem for me, He's THE KING OF EVIL! let him have his hair slicked back like we're all used to so the guy with the moniker THE KING OF EVIL actually looks threatening.

It's hard to look threatening when the whole world you live in is so Cartoony looking. Everyone had Incredibles-like facial proportions. Not that that's bad, but I really don't like that for LoZ and I don't think many other people do either.

He looked threatening in WW, and he was a tubby wubby villain then with the right voice and a slightly different look he would have been a malicious looking dude.

I thought he looked like Casey Jones, which is appropriate since that was the same team that was behind the last 3-D animated TMNT movie.
