Yeah, you usually have salt and vinegar with your chips. I don't, I prefer mine covered in tomato sauce, but most people have either one or both. Tell you what, if you ever come over to England and we meet I'll take you to the chippy, I think you'll like it Smile

I like discovering what kinds of things I can put peanut butter on and eat without it tasting terrible.
So far so good.

Man you guys make my pastas sound like a damn veggie garden in comparison. Mince (or chorizo), garlic, onion, capsicum, carrot, green beans, broccoli (sometimes), mushroom, mushroom, mushroom (no not that kind of mushroom Ansem) and jabanero. Still pretty quick and simple, though most the time there is one or two ingredients missing from the fridge.

I can, but the pics are broken.

In my own humble opinion, I make a damn good sausage roll. Also good cupcakes.

Re: Brawl a la carte

Post  Raya on Sat Oct 20, 2012 5:00 am

I went all creative yesterday and made a barley risotto with mushrooms and peas. Turned out suprisingly lovely. The measurements I had to play by ear (last time I made a risotto with rice I misjudged how much the rice swells and ended up with enough to feed an army), but it turned out pretty good. One thing I was a bit worried about was that the recipe called for marsala wine, which I could only find in big expensive bottles. Since that would be a waste I wanted to get one of the tiny bottles. Since marsala is apparently 'fruity with a hint of raisins and citrus' I picked up a bottle of rose that sounded vaguely similar. When I got home I found the recipe said you could use white wine instead. Dammit. I used the rose anyway and it turned out really nice, giving it a bit of a tang.

Definately adding it to my meals list, was pretty damn tasty. A bit of a hassle to cook as you have to keep stirring in the stock constantly, but a good end result.

Well, yes. Also chemistry makes me think of chemicals, not delicious food. Razz

Gonna go cook myself some bacon and eggs if I can be bothered. Of course, that's a pretty big 'if', there. If I move in to dad's place, I will have to cook a lot more often haha.

Yesterday I made round steak in white pepersaus, with diced and baked potato's and a side salad.

Just a heads up; round steak is awesome.

Ah, Christmas, the time of great indulgence in food.

We had: shortbread, Christmas cake, truffles, rum balls, Christmas pudding, mango and raspberry trifle...then of course the ham, chicken, pork...potato bake and lots of yummy salads...
Seafood for Boxing Day, too - prawns, oysters and Moreton Bay bugs (they're a type of lobster, technically - a lot more appetizing than they sound).

I'm getting one of these as a belated 21st present! I'm super hyped. I told my mum and she's jealous!

It does everything except barbeque/fry and bake, so basically the only other thing you really need is an oven. Very helpful at dad's place where he doesn't really have any appliances. I want to be able to bake cakes but I don't have a mixer, there's no food processor, nothing, but this is hella fancy and does everything for cooking, and it's not difficult to clean. Yeaaaaaaah.

I'm turning in to my mother, I can feel it.

Side note: putting pesto in risotto is pretty great. Chicken and pesto risotto is very flavourful.

I'm going to make a key lime pie today! Wish me luck.
