I have Type 1 Diabetes, I use this wonder devise called an insulin pump(invented by Arnold Kadish of California, USA). It has a lot of component costs to it, which under a "free" system will not be covered. On top of the fact that I use a lot more Insulin because I am more Insulin sensitive, which means that the Insulin starts to not work for me much faster then the average diabetic. I need more insulin as well as other materials. Not to mention the costs the strips and other acutroma produces. So with the panels that determine the costs for me are fucking astronomical, so add my poor as shit vision, auto immune-disorder that causes me to be ill often badly, and that according to my height I am "slightly obese" at 186 lbs.

So yes I support the Modern medical system of the United States of America. Also "Free" is more expensive for the aggregate and far more inefficient than a free market system.

DRTJR makes a good point. The system IS a bit broken for the middle class in some areas. But what we have now can be fixed, made better and more efficient. With another 4 years I think he can do that. There being kinks in the plan is natural, because no one has a perfect plan to begin with. They have to work on it and let it develop.

I think the American free market system is as good as we're going to ever be. But I am a Capitalist at heart. Adam Smith is/was/and always will right in my mind eyes.

Sorry I didn't reply to this earlier but I feel that Obamacare isn't all good. Obamacare is bad for middle class people who pay really high rates for shitty coverage, because it's opt out, you legally have to have insurance, either privately or through the state (ie, if you have your own insurance you don't have to pay into obamacare so we can "save the free market") and collective healthcare is only actually good if it's completely collectivized, in which case, the best providers work through the government and we all get good healthcare at a cheap rate since it's collectively bargained. When it isn't collective, the best healthcare stays privatized still goes to rich people, while middle class have to pay government set sliding rates for bad coverage (upper class just buys into privatized since money isn't an issue)

Ah yeah, from the sounds of it it's not a great scheme that's gotten set up there. Because yeah, free/accessible healthcare is an amazing thing if it's set up correctly.

So, you totally will, except for the fact that you can't. And the only reason you can't is because you didn't want to.

Anyway, yeah, voting is a good thing to do.

I know I've said this before but that apathy makes me sad. I mean here, we have to vote, so people being like "eh I can't be bothered registering" makes me feel really sad, after all it only takes a few minutes to do it.

I guess with a smaller country, we run all ours on a Saturday so everyone pretty much gets an opportunity to go out and vote anyway. But yeah, you have the right to vote, I just find it difficult to comprehend people being too lazy to exercise it. Again, I know that's my world view talking and where I've grown up playing a big role, but still.

I'm sure I'll manage, it might kill me in the process knowing that I couldn't get my say in but deep down, I think I'll be fine.

I'll get off your back about it after this since I don't imagine you're going to change your view but I think it's asinine to yield what amount of control you have over to the rest of the voting populace just because you were lazy.

Oh, you know my friend that got on my case for voting for Gee Jay? Well, he didn't vote either because he is also lazy and never mailed in an absentee ballot like me.

I can do whatever I damn well please, chances are if I could/did go vote, it wouldn't go toward Obama or Romney anyways. And since none of the others will win, not voting is nearly just like throwing my vote away on someone who wouldn't win in the first place.

The only difference between me not voting at all, and throwing my vote away on someone who wouldn't win is going through the trouble to stand in line and vote.

Seems to me they have generally the same outcome, so

Been waiting a while to use that.

Make sure you bring up how by not voting, he's throwing his vote away as smugly as possible.

Exactly my plan, but he hasn't provoked me, so I haven't done so.

It's also looking like legalization will pass in Washington too. I'm interested to see how the federal government will react to this. Obama hasn't demonstrated that he's ok with weed in the past.
