What is the point of this thread? The Playstation 4 will have a controller that iterates off last gen's dual shock, that it? Or something about Sony "copying" Nintendo again?

well the name was sorta a poke at both, but I intended it to be more of a general thing for the PS4 since a lot of information is coming out about it.

Stupid stupid stupid

A console should always be backwards compatible by at least one gen. Other wise I am more geared toward paying for a used PS3 rather than a new PS4 because I want to play my PS3 games without having to buy them all over again. And I don't want to spend more money on all the games that I already bought when I am already buying a expensive PS4. That is of course assuming that the games that I want are actually going to be downloadable in the first place.

I don't get why Backwards compatibility is so "essential". It's still a relatively new concept (PS2 was basically the first one) and besides that it was an accident. PS3 removed PS2 backwards compatibility after the first iteration. It's not that surprising, and frankly it's probably overall better for them to NOT include it; maintains value & market for the older console, meaning that Sony will obviously still be supporting PS3 for some time (like they did with the PS2 til a year or so ago)

It is very essential for people in my spot. Because now I won't be buying a PS4 for a much longer time now.

I currently do not have a PS3. I also have a big list of games for PS3 I need to finish.

Why would I buy both a PS3 and PS4? By the time I bought the downloadable games I already own I could have probably bought a PS3 with that money. Making all the money i spent on the actual disks completely worthless.

Besides, backwards compatibility was fine last gen because the system does not cost so much as it is. I would be much more willing to buy a PS2 than a PS3 to play games. That is why it was not such a big deal when you can get it for about $75, that's only a bit more than new games cost anyway. Also Spoon, the reason it stayed around so long was because besides the DS it was the most successful console in history.

I get the dealing that I don't need the PS4 and it doesn't need me. Then again I've never been a fan of Sony

The only reason I could see myself getting excited about PS4 would be a release date for The Last Guardian, and sadly I don't see that happening anytime for soon.

On the plus side, PS4 will NOT block used games.

Who said you have to buy a PS4, let alone a PS3? lol

Not sure how to put this... to me, all it seems like is your shopping around for reasons to not buy a PS3? Believe me when I say, I'm currently in a VERY similar position; only reasons I have a PS3 is because a very good friend gave me his while he is doing his duty for the Navy.

But regardless, I can honestly say I DO NOT plan on buying a PS4 anytime soon. If I buy a new system, it'll be a Wii U. If there really are that many PS3 games in your bucket list, then your time is now to shop around for a PS3. The bottom of the price currently is gonna drop out of the PS3 with PS4 on the horizon. Buy it used even. Otherwise just let it pass, lol.

I believe I touched on that, lol. Regardless, chances are the PS3 will still have a couple good years on it, and will still see new releases until the 2015 holiday season at the very least. Granted, not long after this holiday season it may not be much more then the regular regurgitation that is the annual Madden & Call of Duty games, Random Indie stuff, etc, but it will still have some new content to buy. All in all, you could do worse~

It's Vaporwear at best by this point, especially with two of the heads leaving last year like they did~

I want a PS3 because Metal Gear Rising and Ni No Kuni. Aside from that, don't really have an opinion.

Yes, I don't want to buy a PS3 when I would have preferred to just buy a PS4.
