Re: Official video game music remixes

Post  Relmitos on Sat Sep 24, 2016 12:21 am

Finally made it to the 2nd page. Music now.

Weldar wrote:Man what are you talking about, Crazy Chocobo is clearly the best version of the chocobo theme.

This can't possibly be a serious statement, heh. I like the Jungle Japes music, I'm not particularly disturbed Smash Bros uses it so much. Didn't really realize it was called "DK Island Swing" though, the first stage it appeared in was DKC1 and was named Jungle Japes, so I always just called it that.

Anyway, I felt like we didn't have enough Zelda in here yet. This is another commonly used piece, as would be required with this thread, but I have fond memories of this one strangely. The first time this appeared was in A Link to the Past, and that game released 3 years after I was born. First time I played it was probably around 5 or 6 years old, and the intro to the theme is so strong I found the music made the place far more scary and intimidating then it should've been. Here.

Hyrule Castle:

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Nov. 21, 1991

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, March 24, 2003

This one is probably my favorite version of it, the piano does it a lot of justice, though I like Hyrule King Appears as well.

The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures, Jun. 7,2004

The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, Jan. 10, 2005
This one isn't a complete Hyrule Castle remix, it's got bits and pieces in it, but overall not very much. Mainly the intro, but I really like Hyrule Castle's intro.

This one is the theme in full, so Minish Cap isn't without a real Hyrule Castle theme.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Nov. 19, 2006

You don't need to listen to this one longer then 12 seconds.

Being as this game was placed in the exact same world as A Link to the Past, it shares a large number of similarities, and no small amount music was shared between them basically.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Nov. 22, 2013

This next one doesn't exactly sound like Hyrule Castle, I get that, but I'm putting it here anyway because Lorule Castle's music is Hyrule Castle's theme reversed. There's 5 different versions of it so I'm just going to post 1 big medley version of it. I tried to find a smaller one but I don't believe a smaller one containing all 5 verisions exists.

Proof that Lorule Castle's theme is Hyrule Castle's theme in reverse: Go to 3:05 and 4:09 to hear Hyrule Castle's theme.

I didn't want to dump FF set after FF set after FF set, honestly. Battle on the Bridge(Gilgamesh theme) was actually the next FF one I was going to put up.

Okay, it's time for the great grand daddy of remixes. Took me so long to find all of these damn things, mostly due to all the time I spent browsing the internet in hopes of finding versions I didn't know about, and boy, did I hit the jackpot in "this exists?" as far as some of these go. I will be amazed if a song ever gets remixed in games as much as this one has, and considering what it IS, there could easily be more in the future. In fact, there's so many of these, I'm going to be splitting them up into 7 or 8 different posts mostly so another 1st page doesn't happen. You all know what this is, you're not allowed to call yourself a gamer if you haven't heard this at some point, in any of it's forms.

Super Mario Bros 1-1:

This...........this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. You may or may not be surprised by how many there are, this took longer then I'd like to admit to compile and put them all together. I didn't even know some of these existed.

Super Mario Bros., stage 1-1 Sept 13, 1985

Super Mario Bros. 2, the Sub World, Oct 9, 1988

Super Mario Bros. 3, the Music Box,  Feb 9, 1990

Super Mario World, the Special World(Starts at 0:33), Aug 13, 1991

Super Mario All-Stars(Super Mario Bros), stage 1-1, Aug 1, 1993

Continued next post.

So far it's all been things from games you've known about, from this point on I don't make any promises that you know these existed. Mostly because of the first one below. Coincidentally I need to add another thing to the Super Mario World Athletic section.

I can't lie, I had to 'wtf, this exists?'

Super Mario Compact Disco(the relevant part starts at 0:23), Aug 1, 1993.

Re: Official video game music remixes

Post  Weldar on Thu Dec 29, 2016 8:25 pm

Right I'd been meaning to do a few of these too, lets start things off with the Fire Emblem theme.

Spoiler:
April 20th 1990 - Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light - Title Theme

And so we start with the humble beginnings on the famicom, this a theme that's been there since the beginning of the franchise and they pretty much nailed it in one.

March 14th 1992 - Fire Emblem Gaiden - Ending Theme 1

The second game in the series has its own unique opening theme but the classic theme does make an appearance at the beginning of the ending theme.

Januray 21st 1994 - Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem - The Theme of Fire Emblem

And now we move up to the Super Famicom, this game was both a remake of the original as well as a sequel and this brought back the original theme, now establishing it as the main theme of the franchise.

January 26 1996 - Fire Emblem (Anime) - Main Theme

Remember when every video game was getting a cartoon, even Fire Emblem got in on it with an ova based off Mystery of the Emblem. This was actually released in America too making this the technical western debut of Fire Emblem

May 14th 1996 - Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War - Fire Emblem Theme

September 1st 1999 - Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 - Fire Emblem's Theme/Introduction

Pretty uneventful here, still only on the Super Famicom, still this being a normal main theme until...

November 21st 2001 - Super Smash Bros Melee - Fire Emblem

The real western debut, and finally a song people should be familiar with. The main part of the song is made up of the even more inconic recuirtment theme, Together We Ride, but it does switch over to the main theme about halfway through.

March 29th 2002 - Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade - Prelude ~ Fire Emblem Theme

Still not quite in the west yet though, we've moved onto the GBA with Roy's game which ended up coming out after he appeared in Melee, this is the last game that didn't make it over to the west and that probably makes it a good stopping point so this post doesn't end up too long.

Re: Official video game music remixes

Post  Weldar on Thu Dec 29, 2016 9:45 pm

And now onto the games people might have actually played.

Fire Emblem Theme (continued):
April 25th 2003 - Fire Emblem - Fire Emblem Theme

October 7th 2004 - Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones - Main Theme

April 20th 2005 - Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance - Fire Emblem Theme

And now we move to the gamecube for Ike's game. Like in Gaiden the track has been moved back to be an ending theme, this time on of the post credits stats, but its ingrained as the series main theme by now.

February 22nd 2007 - Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn - Main Theme

And now onto the wii. This one actually has a slightly different alternate version as well as a quite different version that was used in the e3 reveal trailer.

January 31st 2008 - Super Smash Bros Brawl - Fire Emblem Theme

The version of the song I'm most familiar with personally, the other song they used the latin choir alongside the Brawl main theme.

August 7th 2008 - Fire Emblem:Shadow Dragon - Fire Emblem Theme

And now Fire Emblem moves back to the handheld with a DS remake of the original game giving us a remastered version of the very first version of the theme. There was also a Japan only DS remake of Mystery of the Emblem, Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem ~ Heroes of Light and Shadow, that used this same remix of the main theme making it the only game in the franchise to not have some new remix of this theme.

April 19th 2012 - Fire Emblem Awakening - Main Theme

And after this brief lull where Fire Emblem's future was uncertain it came back to the 3ds is a big way. The Awakening theme sounds like it might be another departure at first but the classic theme shows up about a minute in

Fire Emblem Awakening - Main Theme (Festival)

Fire Emblem Awakening - Main Theme (Beach)

Fire Emblem Awakening - Main Theme (Spa)

But that's not all for Awakening, the dlc added a series of sillier remixes for the Scramble Pack which gave fairly simple maps that contain a lot of unique character interactions. There's a cheery upbeat version for a harvest festival, a steel drum remix with japanese Chrom grunts for the beach level and a more traditional japanese instrument version with japanese Lucina grunts for the hot springs level.

March 13th 2015 - Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. - Code Name: FE

One of the more out there entries to this list. Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. was another srpg on the 3DS made by Intelligent Systems who make Fire Emblem, as such Marth, Ike Robin and Lucina all made cameos as playable characters via amiibo and brought some unique remixes of Fire Emblem music with them. Marth also uses a short clip of the main theme as his special attack theme but I couldn't find a video of that track on its own

June 25th 2015 - Fire Emblem Fates - Final Results

And now we come to the last Fire Emblem game, much like Gaiden this has its own main theme with Lost in Thoughts All Alone serving as the game's leitmotif but just like some games before it the classic theme hides at the end, this time at the end of the 3rd path Revelations around 3:22 in the above video.

December 26th 2015 - Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE - Opera of Light

But what its not over yet, there's the game that was once Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem that instead ended up Shin Megami Tesnsei game about idols where Fire Emblem is there for some reason. Things go full Fire Emblem for the end and this the big climatic moment that defeats the villain. And so that's where the Fire Emblem theme ends for now, anime as hell.
