I think he is trying to escape the planet just like pikmin 1. He has a smash ball in his ship and i think the triforce piece was the last thing he needed to get it up and running. I bet in the last episode we are going to see him blast off in the background all HAHAAHAHAHAHA LOSERS IM OUTA HERE!

That remains a possibility, as he did talk about their only being one way to survive the death of a planet (leaving it) but somehow I don't think that's what he's after just yet- he might have more to do in the episodes to come.

Heh... I wouldn't be surprised if that's how everything goes down in the end for Olimar. A lot of what he mentioned during his little monologue with Luigi could easily be thought of as hidden references to the first Pikmin game. The 'darkness' (Olimar and friends had to return to his ship by nighttime before the nocturnal creatures would emerge and they'd all be royally fucked) and the earth waiting to 'devour them all' (the nasty little beasties constantly eating up your Pikmin buddies), among plenty of other things.

End of days was just plain amazing and on a tier of creepiness not above or below Kirby, but aside from it on a separate level that's equally as awesome.

well in episode 8 he got the smash ball and his final smash is the ship blasting off.

I'm gonna say Olimar still has a role to play in this. You don't start a cult that plans to fight without a bigger goal in mind, usually.
