Re: The Legend of Zelda: Discussion.
The sad thing is that TP starts out with such a bang. Up to the end of the Arbiter's Grounds, TP was one hell of a ride. Cool opening dungeons, lots of epic things to do between them (JOUSTING), and Zant freaking popping up everywhere and being badass. After that, its like the developement team ran out of energy.

And going back to the whole "you can float with Iron Boots in pockets" thing... How can he fit all that crap he picks up behind that shield? Taking advantage of X Space I see. If that's the right term, it's how cartoon characters pull giant mallets out of nowhere.
Does anyone get the end of TP when Zant randomly shows up and cracks his neck after the final battle?

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Discussion.
CRAP THE SIGHT IS DOWN. I'll have to try and explain it myself...
*Ahem*
Apparently, in Japanese history/mythology their was once an official known as an Onmyoji, who served as an advisor/divinator/sorceror for the Emperor. (In a position to rule as Regeant or something) The Onmyoji was said to be a master of both Yin and Yang (Light and Shadow=Twilight) and have the power to open the gap between the worlds of light and shadow. (Sound familiar?) The most interesting part of all this is that the Onmyoji gained his power by BINDING HIS SOUL TO A GOD. Even better, as far as we're concerned, is that this meant that the Onmyoji was practically immortal, because he and the God he bound himself to could ressurect eachother. The stories go on to say that occaisonally, an Onmyoji would be decieved and bind their souls to an evil God. In such a situation, the Onmyoji could kill the evil God and atone for their sins by refusing to allow themselves to be ressurected, thus dragging the God down with them into death.
The general theory that has evolved in the Zelda forum communities is that Zant delibrately killed Ganondorf, either as atonement or as revenge for being betrayed.
All done. Take it as you will. Personally, I think there are way to many coincidences for it not to be what Nintendo was going for though.
And thanks for preventing a double post.

Holy crap. That's awesome. I love it when video games get deep like that. I'll have to tell my friends about this find.

Yeah, I was pretty amazed. I had thought TP's story had been pretty weak before finding that, but that adds quite a bit to it.
I wonder how many other things Japanese gamers think are totally obvious but we have no clue about.

Are we gonna go into another "Let's see how deep this actually goes like Tabuu" discussion?

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Discussion.
The way I see it, the vision of Zant was just showing that Ganondorf really died (as Zant would continue living as long as Ganondorf was alive). I don't think that Zant killed Ganondorf at all. However, I've been wrong before...

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Discussion.
I thought that as well for a while, but as I said earlier, I think there's too much going for the Onmyoji thing for it all be coincedense.
Still, you could be correct Blue Madness. I've been wronge before too. (Heh, just look at all the retarded stuff I post on accident) And Weldar, why don't you just go post your theory? I've given up waiting for the Tabuu caterpillar (I think that's the same thread...), and we could use more discussion.
Relmitos: I think it'd be cool if we managed to carry on this discussion in some way, but I'm not sure what else to talk about as far as deep stuff is concerned. I found out about the Onmyoji theory mostly on accident, and I don't know enough about Japanese history/mythology to see any other correlations. Well, since Hyrule is based on Medieval Europe (More or less) I suppose you could say that the three pieces of the Triforce are meant to reflect the Holy Trinity...I could run with that idea.

Hehehe irony (sort of)
I'd also say Zant didn't kill Ganon, but it could be he was a corrupt Onmyoji and was happy to be bound the his evil god, or something like that.
